A userscript and web tool that translates Chinese pinyin initialism abbreviations (like 'yyds' or 'xswl') used on social platforms into readable phrases. It runs on Weibo, Tieba, and Bilibili via Tampermonkey-style script managers, with a standalone web version and embeddable snippet.
Use cases
- decode pinyin acronym slang on weibo posts
- understand abbreviation-heavy comments on bilibili
- translate pinyin initialisms like yyds or xswl
- look up what a chinese internet abbreviation means
- add abbreviation decoding to my own website
- contribute new slang entries to a community dictionary
When to choose
- you browse Chinese social platforms and keep encountering unexplained pinyin initialisms
- you want a lightweight userscript rather than a full app
- you want to embed abbreviation decoding into a personal site
When to avoid
- you need offline translation without submitting selected text to a server
- you need general machine translation rather than slang/initialism lookup
- you cannot install userscript managers or browser extensions
