A Zotero 7/8 plugin that configures Zotero's built-in PDF resolvers to automatically download open papers from Sci-Hub sites. It ships as an installable XPI and lets users manage which Sci-Hub mirrors to use from plugin settings.
Use cases
- automatically download paper PDFs into Zotero from Sci-Hub
- find full text for Zotero items missing attachments
- bulk fetch PDFs for existing library items via Find Full Text
- configure custom Sci-Hub mirror sites in Zotero
- auto-download PDFs for newly added items with a DOI
When to choose
- you use Zotero 7 or 8 and want Sci-Hub PDF retrieval integrated into your reference manager
- you want to backfill your library with PDFs for items that only have metadata
- you need configurable Sci-Hub domains without manually editing Zotero preferences
When to avoid
- you are outside regions where Sci-Hub access is lawful
- your items lack DOIs, since retrieval depends on them
- you use Zotero 6 or another reference manager
