Actions & Tags (Zotero Tag) is a Zotero 7 plugin that lets users customize their reference management workflow. It automatically tags items triggered by Zotero events or user-defined shortcuts and supports custom JavaScript action scripts for workflow automation.
Use cases
- automatically tag new Zotero items as unread
- remove tags when I finish reading an item
- run custom scripts to replace tags in bulk
- copy item links with a keyboard shortcut
- auto-generate a note when opening an item
- auto-translate titles and abstracts of newly added papers
- trigger actions on Zotero events like item creation or import
When to choose
- you use Zotero 7 and want event-driven or shortcut-triggered automation
- you need automatic tagging based on reading state or item events
- you want to script custom workflows like copying links or generating notes
When to avoid
- you don't use Zotero as your reference manager
- you need a standalone automation tool outside of Zotero
- you only need simple static tags without automation
