A C-based tool that bypasses YouTube's SNI-based detection systems, originally created to work around YouTube throttling in Russia. It runs on routers (OpenWRT, Padavan) and PCs, integrating with nftables/iptables and supporting a Linux kernel module.
Use cases
- unblock youtube on openwrt router
- bypass sni-based youtube throttling
- fix slow youtube videos without vpn
- run youtube unblocker as linux kernel module
- bypass youtube dpi blocking on home network
- unblock youtube quic udp traffic
When to choose
- you need to restore YouTube access on a router or Linux machine where it is throttled via SNI inspection
- you want a transparent, network-level fix rather than a per-device VPN or proxy
When to avoid
- you need general-purpose censorship circumvention beyond YouTube - the author explicitly restricts use to YouTube only
- you are on Windows or macOS without a Linux router, since it targets Linux networking stacks
- SNI-based interference is not the cause of your connectivity problem
