Planet is a free, open-source native macOS app (SwiftUI) for building and hosting decentralized blogs and websites on IPFS, with a built-in local IPFS node and IPNS generation for ENS (EIP-1577) content hashes. It also lets you follow other decentralized sites and RSS feeds in a reader-style interface.
Use cases
- publish a decentralized blog on IPFS
- host a website with an ENS .eth name
- follow ENS websites and RSS feeds in one app
- write posts in markdown with live preview
- pin content for offline use
- set up an EIP-1577 content hash website
When to choose
- you want a serverless, censorship-resistant personal blog on IPFS/ENS
- you use a Mac and prefer a native SwiftUI app with a built-in IPFS node
- you want to follow decentralized sites and RSS feeds alongside your own publishing
When to avoid
- you need Windows or Linux support - it is macOS 12+ only
- you need dynamic, server-side websites rather than static content
- you want a fully mature, stable tool - it is still at an early stage with frequent changes
