KISS is a lightning-fast, open-source Android launcher under 250kb that replaces the home screen with a simple search bar. Users type the first letters of apps, contacts, or settings, and results are promoted based on usage frequency.
Use cases
- replace my android home screen with a fast minimal launcher
- launch apps by typing instead of browsing icons
- reduce memory and battery usage from my launcher
- search apps contacts and settings from one bar
- open-source ad-free launcher for android
- declutter my phone home screen
When to choose
- you want a tiny, battery-friendly launcher that stays out of the way
- you prefer keyboard-style search over icon grids
- you value libre software (GPLv3) available on F-Droid and Google Play
- your device is low on RAM or storage
When to avoid
- you want a feature-rich home screen with widgets, folders, and heavy customization
- you rely on a traditional app-drawer visual layout
- you need iOS or desktop support - it is Android-only
