GeekDesk is a small, beautiful Windows desktop quick-launch tool built with WPF/.NET that organizes shortcuts to files, apps, and websites. It integrates Everything for full-disk instant search and offers global hotkeys, mouse-follow callout, custom wallpapers, frosted-glass UI effects, and scheduled reminders.
Use cases
- quickly launch apps and files from the desktop
- organize shortcuts into categorized menus
- search the entire disk instantly with Everything integration
- call up a launcher with a global hotkey or middle mouse button
- set scheduled reminders so I don't forget tasks
- customize launcher appearance with wallpapers and icons
When to choose
- you want a lightweight, portable, visually customizable launcher on Windows
- you already use Everything and want it integrated into a quick-start panel
- you need categorized shortcut management with hotkey access
When to avoid
- you are on macOS or Linux - it is Windows-only (Win7+)
- you need a full cross-platform launcher ecosystem like Alfred or Raycast
- you require plugin extensibility beyond icons and wallpapers
