DeskPad is a macOS application that creates a virtual display mirrored within its own window, acting like a plugged-in monitor. It lets presenters build a dedicated, easily shareable workspace sized for the audience rather than their large physical screen.
Use cases
- share a dedicated screen during video calls without exposing my whole desktop
- create a virtual monitor sized for viewers when my display is much larger
- mirror a virtual display in a window for screen recording
- keep presentation apps on a separate shareable screen on macOS
- give remote meetings a consistent screen resolution
When to choose
- you present or screen-share on macOS and your display is too large or cluttered for viewers
- you want a lightweight, free virtual monitor without extra hardware
- you need a dedicated shareable workspace with adjustable resolution
When to avoid
- you are on Windows or Linux, as DeskPad is macOS-only
- you need remote desktop access to another machine rather than a local virtual display
- you cannot grant screen recording permissions in your environment
