## What it is
XMRig is a high-performance, open-source, cross-platform CPU/GPU miner for RandomX, KawPow, CryptoNight, and GhostRider algorithms, plus a RandomX benchmark tool. It supports CPU (x86/x64/ARM/RISC-V), AMD GPUs via OpenCL, and NVIDIA GPUs via a CUDA plugin, with JSON config, HTTP API, and a companion stratum proxy.

## Use cases
- mine Monero (RandomX) on CPU
- mine Ravencoin with KawPow on GPU
- benchmark RandomX hashrate on my hardware
- run a stratum proxy for a mining farm
- manage miners remotely via HTTP API
- mine CryptoNight variants on ARM devices

## When to choose
- you need a unified miner supporting multiple PoW algorithms across CPU and GPU
- you want cross-platform binaries for Windows, Linux, macOS, or FreeBSD
- you need runtime reconfiguration and remote management via HTTP API
- you want a reliable RandomX benchmark

## When to avoid
- you mine coins using algorithms outside RandomX, KawPow, CryptoNight, or GhostRider
- you need a GUI-only miner with no command-line involvement
- you want a zero-fee miner without modifying the default 1% donation in source
