## What it is
Themix GUI (formerly Oomox) is a graphical application for designing and generating color variations of GTK themes, icon themes, and app-specific color schemes. It exports themes for GTK2/GTK3, Cinnamon, GNOME, Openbox, Xfwm, various icon themes, and supports many apps via its Base16 plugin.

## Use cases
- create a custom GTK3 theme with my own color palette
- generate a Papirus icon theme in different colors
- make a matching color scheme for Alacritty, Vim and Emacs
- generate a theme palette from an image
- import colors from Xresources to build a theme
- customize Numix theme colors on Linux

## When to choose
- you want to visually design and export Linux desktop themes without hand-editing CSS
- you need coordinated GTK, icon, and terminal/editor color schemes
- you use a tiling WM or HiDPI setup and need fine-grained GTK tweaks

## When to avoid
- you are not on Linux or don't use GTK-based desktops
- you only need a one-off prebuilt theme rather than custom generation
- you need themes for non-Linux platforms like macOS or Windows
