## What it is
Thanos is a set of composable components that turn existing Prometheus deployments into a highly available metrics system with unlimited long-term storage in object storage (S3, GCS, Azure, Swift, Tencent COS). It provides a global query view across all Prometheus instances, deduplication of HA pairs, downsampling, and compaction, and is a CNCF Incubating project written in Go.
