## What it is
Textual Paint is a terminal-based (TUI) image editor that recreates the classic MS Paint interface, built with the Textual framework in Python. It supports editing ANSI art and raster images with all the classic MS Paint tools, undo/redo, file dialogs, and localization into 26 languages.

## Use cases
- edit ANSI art files in the terminal
- draw pixel art over SSH
- open and save images from the command line
- recreate MS Paint workflows in a TUI
- create text art for BBS or IRC
- convert between ANSI art and raster image formats

## When to choose
- you want an MS Paint-like editor that runs in a terminal or over SSH
- you edit ANSI/ASCII art or pixel art and prefer a text-based workflow
- you need a lightweight, cross-platform drawing tool without a GUI dependency

## When to avoid
- you need a full-featured modern image editor with layers and advanced filters
- your terminal lacks the required Unicode/color support
- you are on Python 3.13, which is not yet supported
