## What it is
TaskNotes is an Obsidian plugin for task and time-tracking management where each task is a separate Markdown note with YAML frontmatter, and views (task list, kanban, calendar, agenda) are powered by Obsidian Bases queries. It supports natural-language task creation, recurring tasks via RFC 5545 RRules, reminders, projects, and dependencies, with a companion web/Android/iOS app sharing the same portable task format.

## Use cases
- manage tasks in obsidian as markdown notes
- track time spent on tasks with calendar integration
- create tasks from natural language like 'buy groceries tomorrow'
- set up recurring tasks with rrule schedules
- view tasks on a kanban board or calendar inside my vault
- keep task data portable in plain markdown files

## When to choose
- you already use Obsidian and want tasks stored as portable Markdown notes
- you need calendar, kanban, and agenda views driven by queryable note properties
- you want natural-language task capture and RFC 5545 recurring tasks
- you value extensibility via YAML frontmatter fields and editable .base view files

## When to avoid
- you need a standalone task manager outside Obsidian (though a beta companion app exists)
- you want a hosted, multi-user project management tool with collaboration features
- you don't use Obsidian and don't want to adopt its Bases ecosystem
