## What it is
Subtrace is a CLI tool that lets developers inspect HTTP requests hitting their backend servers by wrapping any command with `subtrace run`. It works with Docker, Docker Compose, and Kubernetes without code changes.

## Use cases
- inspect http requests to my backend server
- debug api calls in local development
- see incoming requests without adding logging code
- monitor http traffic in docker containers
- trace requests in kubernetes pods
- tcpdump alternative for http

## When to avoid
- you need macOS support outside the private beta
- you need full APM with metrics, traces, and dashboards rather than HTTP inspection
- you need to inspect non-HTTP protocols
