## What it is
Steedos Platform is an open-source, metadata-driven low-code platform for building enterprise applications (CRMs, ERPs, approval workflows), now evolving into the ObjectStack architecture (ObjectQL protocol, ObjectOS engine, Object UI renderer). It lets AI agents author typed metadata for data models, permissions, workflows, and UI, from which the runtime derives database schemas, REST APIs, a visual Console, and an MCP server.

## Use cases
- build a CRM without writing code
- generate enterprise apps from AI prompts with Claude Code
- self-host an open-source Salesforce alternative
- create approval workflow and BPM applications
- build internal business apps with low-code metadata
- expose business apps as MCP tools for AI agents
- replace Airtable or Odoo with a self-hosted platform
- define data models, permissions, and UI from one metadata source

## When to choose
- you want an open-source, self-hosted low-code platform for business apps
- you want AI agents to author and operate enterprise software safely with typed metadata and validation gates
- you need built-in permissions, audit, workflows, and generated APIs from a single source of truth
- you want a Salesforce-like metadata architecture without vendor lock-in

## When to avoid
- you need a lightweight microservice framework rather than a full application platform
- you require permissive licensing for proprietary derivatives (AGPL-3.0)
- you want fully hand-coded custom frontends rather than schema-driven UI
- you depend on the legacy Steedos v2 architecture rather than the migrating ObjectStack stack
