## What it is
PlatEMO is a MATLAB-based platform for evolutionary multi-objective optimization developed by BIMK at Anhui University. It provides 300+ open-source evolutionary algorithms, 600+ benchmark problems, and a GUI for running parallel experiments and exporting results to Excel or LaTeX.

## Use cases
- run multi-objective evolutionary algorithms on benchmark problems
- compare new metaheuristic algorithms against state-of-the-art baselines
- visualize Pareto fronts of optimization results
- batch-run optimization experiments in parallel via GUI
- export experiment results as Excel or LaTeX tables
- teach evolutionary computation in courses

## When to choose
- you work in MATLAB and need a wide collection of evolutionary multi-objective algorithms
- you need standard benchmark test problems for multi-objective optimization research
- you want a GUI to design and run optimization experiments without writing harness code
- you need reproducible academic experiments with citable references

## When to avoid
- you need a production optimization solver for business decisions rather than research
- you work outside MATLAB and cannot use MATLAB toolboxes
- you need single-objective or gradient-based optimization primarily
- you require a permissively licensed library for commercial embedding, since PlatEMO has no explicit license and is research-oriented
