## What it is
A Zotero plugin that integrates large language models into the Zotero PDF reader, enabling grounded paper chat, summarization, figure extraction, and agent-driven library management. It supports multiple LLM providers, local models, WebChat, Codex, and Claude Code, and exports notes as Markdown files.

## Use cases
- chat with papers in my Zotero library
- summarize academic PDFs with citations back to the source
- extract figures from papers for my notes
- save LLM research notes to Obsidian as markdown
- analyze literature without leaving Zotero
- use a local LLM to question my reference library
- compare sources across multiple papers

## When to choose
- you already manage references in Zotero and want AI assistance inside the reader
- you need grounded answers with citations linking back to PDF passages
- you want flexible provider support including local OpenAI-compatible models
- you want to export structured research notes with figures to Markdown-based note apps

## When to avoid
- you do not use Zotero as your reference manager
- you need a standalone research assistant independent of a library
- you require a fully offline solution without any model backend
- you need a production-stable agent mode (it is still beta)
