## What it is
Libreddit is a private, lightweight front-end for Reddit written in Rust that proxies all requests (including media) through the server so users can browse Reddit without being tracked. It was rebranded to Redlib and became non-operational after Reddit's July 2023 API changes killed third-party scrapers.

## Use cases
- browse reddit without being tracked
- self-host a private reddit front-end
- read reddit without javascript or ads
- proxy reddit media through my own server
- redirect reddit links to a privacy front-end
- view subreddits without a reddit account

## When to choose
- you want a fast, no-JavaScript, privacy-respecting Reddit viewer you self-host for small-scale use
- you are studying how Rust-based alternative front-ends are built

## When to avoid
- you need a working public instance - Libreddit is non-operational since July 2023
- you want ongoing development - use its successor Redlib instead
- you need large-scale scraping of Reddit, which their API changes prohibit
