## What it is
KubeOperator is an open-source lightweight Kubernetes distribution that helps enterprises plan (Day 0), deploy (Day 1), and operate (Day 2) production-grade K8s clusters through a visual Web UI. It uses Terraform to provision hosts on IaaS platforms like VMware, OpenStack, and FusionCompute, and Ansible for automated deployment, supporting online and fully offline (air-gapped) environments on x86_64 and ARM64.

## Use cases
- deploy a production kubernetes cluster with a web ui
- install k8s in an offline air-gapped environment
- provision kubernetes clusters on vmware vsphere or openstack
- upgrade and scale kubernetes clusters from a dashboard
- monitor kubernetes pods nodes and clusters with built-in prometheus grafana and efk
- back up and restore kubernetes clusters
- manage multi-az high-availability kubernetes master nodes

## When to choose
- you need a GUI-driven, full-lifecycle kubernetes installer and manager for on-prem or vSphere/OpenStack environments
- you must deploy kubernetes clusters in fully offline/air-gapped datacenters
- you want bundled day-2 operations: monitoring, alerting, logging, backup, upgrades, and scaling out of the box

## When to avoid
- the project was archived in July 2024 and is read-only, so it receives no updates or security fixes
- you want a lightweight CLI-only installer without a web UI
- you run clusters primarily on public cloud managed services like EKS, GKE, or AKS
- you need support for the latest kubernetes versions or an actively maintained tool
