## What it is
khal is a standards-based CLI and terminal calendar application written in Python that reads and writes iCalendar events to vdir storage. It can synchronize with CalDAV servers via vdirsyncer and includes an interactive browser/editor called ikhal.

## Use cases
- manage my calendar from the terminal
- add calendar events quickly from the command line
- sync my calendar with a CalDAV server
- browse and edit iCalendar events in a TUI
- view upcoming events in a terminal agenda

## When to choose
- you want a lightweight, standards-based (iCalendar/CalDAV) calendar in the terminal
- you already use vdirsyncer or other pimutils tools
- you prefer keyboard-driven, scriptable calendar management on Linux/macOS/BSD

## When to avoid
- you need a graphical calendar interface
- you primarily use Windows (unsupported)
- you need to edit event timezones, which is not yet supported
