## What it is
IRI (IOTA Reference Implementation) is the official Java node software that runs on the IOTA Mainnet and Devnet, validating and storing transactions in the IOTA Tangle ledger and exposing an HTTP API for clients. It has been deprecated in favor of HORNET.
