## What it is
drawio-desktop is the official Electron-based desktop application wrapping the draw.io diagramming editor, distributed as installers and portable builds for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It runs fully offline with strong isolation: no diagram data or analytics leave the machine, and remotely loaded JavaScript is blocked by CSP.

## Use cases
- draw flowcharts and network diagrams offline
- create UML and architecture diagrams on my desktop
- edit draw.io diagrams without an internet connection
- diagramming tool that doesn't send data anywhere
- make ER diagrams and org charts for free
- open and edit .drawio files locally
- diagram editor for Windows without admin rights

## When to choose
- you need a free, offline-capable diagram editor with no telemetry
- you work with sensitive diagrams that must never leave your machine
- you want native desktop builds including portable or per-user install options
- you already use draw.io on Confluence/Jira and want the same editor locally

## When to avoid
- you need real-time collaborative editing built in
- you want a web-embedded editor inside your own app (use the draw.io web library instead)
- you need plugins or integrations that require external network access, which the desktop app blocks by design
