## What it is
Davia is an open-source CLI and platform that lets AI coding agents generate interactive, editable internal documentation for a codebase. Docs are written locally with interactive visualizations and whiteboards, editable in a Notion-like web workspace or in the IDE, and can be synced to a cloud workspace for team collaboration.

## Use cases
- generate internal docs for my codebase with an AI agent
- create interactive documentation with diagrams and whiteboards
- let cursor or claude-code write and maintain project docs
- edit AI-generated docs in a Notion-like editor or locally in my IDE
- share project documentation with my team in a cloud workspace
- keep a living knowledge base for my repository

## When to choose
- you use AI coding agents like Cursor, Copilot, Windsurf, or Claude Code and want them to produce maintainable docs
- you want interactive visualizations and editable whiteboards instead of static markdown
- you want docs stored locally in your repo but viewable in a rich web workspace

## When to avoid
- you need fully offline team collaboration - cloud sync requires an account and is one-way for now
- you only need simple static markdown documentation generated from code comments
- you need a mature, battle-tested documentation generator for large organizations

## Facets
- artifact type: cli-tool
- maturity: experimental
- function: documentation, developer-tools, cli
- domain: documentation, developer-tools
- platform: cli, cross-platform
- tags: ai-docs, internal-documentation, wiki-engine, knowledge-base, coding-agents, interactive-docs, whiteboard, notion-like, ai-agents, nodejs, web-server
