## What it is
Convos is a self-hosted, multiuser web-based IRC client with a persistent server-side bouncer that keeps you connected and logs messages even when your browser is closed. The backend is written in Perl with Mojolicious and the frontend in Svelte, installable via script, Docker, or Snap.

## Use cases
- use irc from my browser
- self-host an irc client with persistent connection
- keep irc logs while offline with a bouncer
- run a multiuser chat gateway for my team
- host my own chat server with logs and file uploads
- access irc from my phone with a responsive client

## When to choose
- you want a simple, self-hosted web IRC client with always-online history
- you need multiuser access with invite links and user administration
- you want one-command or Docker installation with no complex config
- you want built-in logs, file uploads, pastebin, and video chat

## When to avoid
- you need chat protocols other than IRC today
- you require multi-process/forked deployment (Convos must run as a single daemon)
- you prefer a native desktop or terminal IRC client
- you don't want to run a Perl-based backend
