## What it is
Cloudpods is an open-source, Golang-based cloud-native unified multi/hybrid-cloud platform ('a cloud on clouds') that manages on-premise KVM/baremetal resources and resources across many public cloud providers through a single set of APIs. It also includes an AI Cloud module for deploying and operating LLM inference services and AI container applications with GPU scheduling.

## Use cases
- manage multiple aws azure gcp accounts from one portal
- build a private cloud on my kvm servers
- unified multi-cloud management platform
- automate baremetal server provisioning lifecycle
- turn vmware vsphere cluster into a private cloud
- deploy and manage llm inference with gpu scheduling
- manage kubernetes clusters across clouds
- multi-tenant iam and sso for cloud resources

## When to choose
- you need one API and portal spanning public clouds, private clouds, VMware, and bare metal
- you want a lightweight self-hosted private cloud on KVM without OpenStack complexity
- you need to deploy LLM inference (Ollama, vLLM) or AI apps (Dify, ComfyUI) on GPU infrastructure
- you need multi-tenant IAM, RBAC, and federated SSO across cloud platforms

## When to avoid
- you only use a single cloud provider's native tooling and have no multi-cloud needs
- you need a lightweight CLI-only tool rather than a full platform to deploy and operate
- you need serverless/FaaS or PaaS application deployment rather than IaaS resource management
- you require a fully managed service rather than self-hosted infrastructure
