## What it is
BlueSpy is a Python proof-of-concept tool that records and replays audio from vulnerable Bluetooth devices by exploiting pairing without user interaction (BSAM-PA-05). It was demonstrated at RootedCON 2024 to raise awareness of insecure Bluetooth device configurations.

## Use cases
- record audio from a nearby bluetooth earbud without the owner knowing
- test whether a bluetooth device pairs without user interaction
- demonstrate bluetooth security flaws in a security assessment
- evaluate devices against the BSAM-PA-05 control
- spy on conversations via vulnerable bluetooth microphones

## When to choose
- you are doing bluetooth security assessments using the BSAM methodology
- you need a quick PoC showing unauthenticated pairing risks on linux with BlueZ
- you want to demonstrate bluetooth eavesdropping risks to stakeholders

## When to avoid
- you need a production-ready or stealthy surveillance tool
- you are on windows or macos since it relies on BlueZ and PulseAudio tooling
- you want a supported, licensed product - it has no license and is a PoC
