# Akkudoktor-EOS/EOS

This repository features an Energy Optimization System (EOS) that optimizes energy distribution, usage for batteries, heat pumps& household devices. It includes predictive models for electricity prices (planned), load forecasting& dynamic optimization to maximize energy efficiency & minimize costs. ## What it is
AkkudoktorEOS is a self-hosted Python application that simulates and optimizes home energy systems, generating optimized plans for photovoltaic production, battery storage, heat pumps, electric vehicles, and household loads based on forecasts and real-time electricity prices. It exposes an API and dashboard and is designed to integrate with home automation systems such as Home Assistant, NodeRED, and EVCC.

## Use cases
- optimize home battery charging based on dynamic electricity prices
- maximize solar self-consumption from my PV system
- plan day-ahead energy usage with variable tariffs
- integrate energy optimization into Home Assistant
- forecast household load and PV production
- decide when to charge my EV from solar vs grid
- minimize grid energy costs for a heat pump household

## When to choose
- you already run a home automation system (Home Assistant, NodeRED, EVCC) and want optimization plans fed into it
- you have a PV system with battery storage and face time-variable electricity prices
- you want a self-hosted, community-driven energy management optimizer with a dashboard and API

## When to avoid
- you have no home automation system to integrate with, since EOS does not control devices itself
- you want a plug-and-play commercial solution without configuration effort
- you need to run on older ARM hardware (armv6/armv7), which requires manual dependency compilation
