## What it is
AI DevKit is a local-first control plane for AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, opencode, and Cursor. It provides one shared configuration file, a TUI console for supervising running agents, cross-agent messaging, SQLite-backed memory retrieval exposed via MCP, and composable engineering workflow skills.

## Use cases
- manage multiple ai coding agents from one console
- share one config across claude code and cursor
- give coding agents long-term project memory
- send prompts and logs to a running ai agent
- make ai agents follow a repeatable dev workflow
- stop agents from forgetting project conventions
- orchestrate multi-agent coding sessions locally

## When to choose
- you run more than one AI coding agent and lack a shared setup or control surface
- you want local, searchable memory for agent decisions and conventions without bloating prompts
- you need to route prompts, logs, or test output to running agent sessions from scripts or a TUI
- you want agents to plan, verify, and review work with a structured engineering lifecycle

## When to avoid
- you use a single AI assistant and don't need multi-agent orchestration
- you want a cloud-hosted or team-shared agent management platform rather than a local-first CLI
- you need a framework for building custom AI agents from scratch rather than managing existing coding agents
- your environment doesn't run Node.js 20+ or none of the supported coding agents
