## What it is
Aether is a Rust-based censorship circumvention client for heavily restricted networks that discovers reachable gateways, builds encrypted tunnels via MASQUE (HTTP/3) or WireGuard, and exposes a local SOCKS5 proxy. It is designed to evade DPI, protocol fingerprinting, UDP throttling, and endpoint blocking.

## Use cases
- bypass internet censorship on restricted networks
- evade deep packet inspection and protocol blocking
- create a local SOCKS5 proxy tunnel
- connect to Cloudflare WARP with obfuscation
- route traffic through nested WireGuard tunnels
- use a circumvention client on Android via Termux

## When to choose
- you are behind a heavily censored network with DPI or UDP throttling
- you need automatic endpoint discovery with validated data-plane connectivity
- you want MASQUE or WireGuard tunneling with traffic obfuscation
- you need a lightweight CLI client across Linux, Windows, macOS, or Termux

## When to avoid
- you need a full GUI VPN client
- you require an authenticated multi-user proxy server
- you need a traditional full-tunnel VPN for all system traffic
- you cannot run Rust/CMake build tooling and need no prebuilt binaries
